Maria

Maria is a Polish-Russian filmmaker and songwriter from London. She spent most of her time as a Queens’ English undergrad acting in, writing, and directing plays. After Cambridge she worked for a film producer in London, helping develop stories for film and TV. Her adventures led her to New York, where she raised money to make her first short, A Little Death, a comedy satire about an undead sexual predator in the body of a young woman. Whilst editing A Little Death, she went to the London Film School for a Filmmaking MA – writing, directing, and editing a number of short films. Upon graduating, she began making adverts and writing songs with her creative partner Jessie Barnett, with whom she produced three short musicals – Seatbelt!, Mugged! and Blackmail! as part of an anthology series. Her first feature film, a musical adaptation of A Little Death, is in currently in development with a production company in London.
